Most beef purchased at grocery stores come from feed lots where they see very little grass in their lives. Most feedlots begin feeding their livestock corn, hormones and supplements as soon as possible, which speeds up their lifespan and promotes weight gain. At Cedar Creek Beef, we believe the best and healthiest beef comes from growing cows the way God intended, with a natural diet which is mostly grass. Unfortunately, in the feedlot, grass is nonexistent.
Feedlot cattle stand in manure most of the day and night. Animals naturally avoid their feces, because of disease and parasites. By feeding cattle what they’re not designed to eat and placing them in a stressful feedlot environment, they become more vulnerable to disease. Being contained with thousands of other cattle from hundreds of different farms exposes them to even more disease and viruses. The feedlot remedy for these problems is filling their cattle with antibiotics, preservatives, and unnatural supplements.
In contrast, the cattle raised with Cedar Creek Beef are raised in a completely natural environment. Our animals are pasture-raised with a minimal all natural grain supplement to improve their marbling and taste. Our Cattle are born on farms where they graze in lush green pasture, with clean air and water. Our cattle are rotationally grazed through various pastures to insure that they receive the best grass and the minerals contained. This produces the best tasting beef for our customers and is also the natural way to ward off parasite infection and eliminate the need for pesticides and antibiotics in our cattle. All of our cattle are treated humanely and are handled their entire lives with as little stress as possible.
